5 page research paper + social media promotion + exhibition installation
OVERVIEW
GOALS
+ Research Leonard Castellanos role in the Chicano art movement
+ Create a companion exhibition to Jerome Harris's "As, Not For: Dethroning Our Absolutes", featuring underrepresented Latinx artists
+ Promote exhibition via social media posts
+ Install exhibition via vinyl pasting
CHALLENGES
+ Keeping cohesion between designers and with exhibition design
+ Representing both iterations of exhibition within promotional items
PROCESS
RESEARCH AND CONCEPTING
+ Investigated and implemented graphics used from previous exhibition promotion to represent both installations
+ We decided on the title "Juntos Desmantelandos", or "Together, Dismantling"
+ We decided that teal was going to be the unifying color for the Latinx iteration, as it went best with the majority of the artwork
DRAFTING
+ Collaged photos of artists from both exhibition versions
+ Strategically implemented teal color for hierarchy
+ Shared new and found graphics between other collaborating designers
+ Vinyl was chosen for weatherproof, and non-destructive removal qualities
FINAL SOLUTION
EVALUATION
+ Social media posts successfully unify both exhibition iterations
+ Social media posts are cohesive with other promotional items and final exhibition
+ Vinyl successfully trimmed and installed
+ Exhibition displayed for November 2021 Corpus Christi Art Walk, educating Corpus Christi locals on underrepresented African American and Latinx designers
